Oral contraceptives may be fatal

New research has revealed that oral contraception increases the risk of certain types of stroke

The study shows that birth control pills raise the possibility of women suffering from stroke, caused by blood clots, and make up about 85% of life-threatening situations

In contrast, these pills do not increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke, which occurs due to bleeding in the brain

Researchers from the University of Loyola in Chicago suggest several mechanisms that explain why oral contraceptives increase the risk of arterial blockage, such as raising blood pressure and making blood too coagulation more susceptible to clotting

When describing hormonal contraceptives, doctors should consider the type and dose of estrogen or progestin, as the ideal drug is the one that carries the lowest levels of hormones, so it will be effective in preventing pregnancy while minimizing the side effects

Oral contraceptives should be prevented for women with risk of stroke. For healthy women without any risk of stroke, their risk of oral contraceptives is very poor

Risk factors for stroke include high blood pressure, cigarette smoking, migraines, especially migraines with sensory disorders, or migraine

The results indicate that women are not subject to a thorough examination of the potential risk factors for stroke before the description of hormonal contraception by doctors, so the study highlights the need for effective communication between the doctor and patient
